Set in the Amagi Pass in Izu City, Shizuoka Prefecture, this narrative revolves around the concepts of "the value of enduring memories" and "perpetual redemption." In 1956, Jiro Mochizuki, a printer based in Shizuoka Prefecture, receives a request from Tajima, a detective on the verge of retirement, to produce materials related to a criminal investigation. This case involves the murder of a construction worker whose statute of limitations has elapsed, and it connects to Otsuka Hana, a prostitute from Shuzenji, as well as a 14-year-old boy seen near the Amagi Tunnel. Mochizuki realizes that the boy is his younger self from 31 years prior, and Hana was his first love. At that time, Hana, having ended her relationship with Mochizuki, was taken into custody under suspicion of the construction worker’s murder and made remarks that appeared to protect another person.
