While on a mission in the East Country, journalist Song Ran is rescued from peril by Li Zan, a Chinese explosives specialist. As they grow closer, they discover a strong connection in their beliefs and spirits, leading to a romantic relationship. However, their budding love is tested when a bombing incident shakes their bond. Upon returning to China, they each face personal challenges and lose touch. Li Zan struggles with guilt over his friend's passing, while Song Ran experiences backlash over a photograph she captured during the attack. By coincidence, they cross paths again and, together, they find solace and plant a white olive tree as a symbol of optimism.
