Noboru witnesses the hardships faced by the underprivileged inmates and uses his sharp deductive skills and jujitsu expertise to resolve various issues within the prison. One evening, Noboru is alerted to an urgent situation involving a prisoner named Katsuzo, who is experiencing severe stomach pain. Despite his initial reluctance, Noboru rushes to the prison to assist. However, it turns out that Katsuzo had pretended to be ill in order to speak to Noboru privately. Katsuzo asks Noboru to retrieve his share of 10 ryo from the leader of a recent burglary and deliver it to a woman named Omitsu in Fukagawa, who had promised to marry him. Moved by Katsuzo's plea, Noboru agrees to carry out this secret task.
