Hachigatsu no Koe wo Hakobu Otoko(八月の声を運ぶ男)

2025Japan

In 1972, Japan was experiencing a period of significant economic advancement. The nation had moved beyond the postwar era, and every citizen was striving for prosperity. Contrarily, Tsujihara Tamotsu (played by Motoki Masahiro), a journalist from a Nagasaki broadcasting station, begins to gather testimonies from atomic bomb survivors. At this time, the scars of the atomic bombing were still raw, and discussing the experiences of those affected was generally considered taboo. Documenting the stories of atomic bomb survivors during such a period was a lonely and challenging endeavor, largely unrecognized by others. It is during this phase that Tsujihara encounters Kuno Kazuhira, a survivor, in a moment that proves to be pivotal. Tsujihara is profoundly affected by Kuno's "voice," igniting his desire to share this narrative. Yet, this "voice" is also shrouded in numerous enigmas.
