Hiyama Eisuke is an actor who has struggled to find success. He relocated from Osaka to Tokyo with dreams of stardom, but only managed to land small roles and made very little money, living paycheck to paycheck. He possessed a rather unhelpful "gift": a bothersome ability to "hear" the voices of spirits who died prematurely. Lacking any psychic abilities, he couldn’t see or communicate with these spirits; he merely heard their voices in a one-sided manner. This led him to recklessly pursue cheap haunted properties, where he was tormented by the distressing voices of the deceased, resulting in frequent moves and a downward spiral into poverty. One day, Hiyama found himself in yet another haunted place and decided to visit "Amami Real Estate," the agency that handled the property, to voice his complaints. The president, Amami Goro, who was aware of Hiyama's unique ability, mentioned, "I have a property that might interest you," and took him to an unexpected location. It was a room in a high-end apartment where a woman had taken her own life five years prior. Due to the tragic incident, the rent had been lowered, and over the years, ten tenants had left in quick succession, all suffering from mental instability, with one even attempting suicide, marking it as a special A-class accident property. Hiyama was offered a temporary job to stay in the room, confirm that it was safe to live in, and help improve the property’s reputation. Tempted by the generous pay, he agreed. That night, he immediately heard a voice, but surprisingly, the woman who was believed to have committed suicide declared, "I was murdered!"
