Four years later, Yoshimune became the eighth Tokugawa shogun. Ooka was subsequently relieved of his duties as magistrate and instructed to return to Edo quickly. In 1712, Ooka had arrested Yoshimune for poaching at Akogigaura in Ise, where hunting and fishing were prohibited. Upon returning to Edo, Ooka was greeted warmly by loved ones, despite the somber atmosphere. He was summoned to the castle, where he reunited with Yoshimune after four years. Surprisingly, Yoshimune appointed Ooka as a magistrate in Edo. Ooka supported Yoshimune's Kyoho Reforms and not only managed Edo but also had a role in the judicial council, overseeing local government affairs, temples, and shrines. He made just decisions with compassion and fairness, earning him the title of "Ooka Sabaki."
