In a time of conflict, a man decides to align himself with the Communist party, embarking on a path towards revolution. In 1946, amidst the ongoing clashes between the Nationalists and Communists in Dongbei, banditry emerges as a major issue, causing immense hardships for the common people. Yang Fenghuo, a retired hero from the anti-Japanese resistance, finds himself entangled in a complex situation involving his blood brother and romantic rival, Gong Wantang, who happens to be the leader of the bandits. As military officer Song Yi sets out to eradicate the bandit threat, Yang Fenghuo faces a challenging decision between his sense of patriotism and his loyalty to a longtime friend.

In the final phases of the Liberation War, Captain Zhuang leads a small unit from the PLA in pursuit of a retreating Nationalist regiment that is hiding in Heishan Temple. The soldiers in the Nationalist regiment have been affected by a contagious disease. To gain entry to the temple, Zhuang and his team disguise themselves as medical helpers. They join forces with Dr. Wei, a local doctor who has been taken captive by the Nationalists. Working together, they provide medical care to the sick, prevent the spread of the disease, and map out the tunnels in order to rescue soldiers who want to switch sides. Following the counter-revolutionary coup on April 12th, Cai Ze Hong returned to Shanghai in search of the party organization. To protect his family's identity, he adopted the alias Cai Wei and joined a radio training class where he met Ming Song, Xia Tian, and other members of the CCP's Special Branch. After confirming his party membership during the establishment of the first Red Army radio station, Cai Ze Hong officially became involved in the construction efforts. He was later tasked with leading a team, including Xu Zheng Ye and Qu Xiang Dong, to the Eyuwan Soviet area to establish a radio station. Utilizing his expertise in radio communications, Cai Wei successfully set up the first radio station for the Fourth Red Army and trained a group of radio operators. In addition to sending and receiving messages, Cai Wei took on the challenge of intercepting enemy military intelligence. By deciphering the Kuomintang's codes, he was able to provide crucial information on enemy troop movements, aiding the Red Army in defeating their opponents.

The narrative revolves around Yang Kai Nan as she guides a group of men in combat against the Japanese military. Taking place in 1931 during the onset of the Mukden Incident, the Japanese army swiftly seizes mineral reserves in the Dongbei area for their own purposes. Yang Kai Nan, the daughter of a nationalist general who has lost her parents, finds herself unexpectedly embroiled in the conflict. Encouraged by a member of the Communist party named Mr. Lu, Yang Kai Nan organizes a band of guerrilla soldiers to engage in a challenging struggle against the enemy forces.

The narrative revolves around Wei Da He, a former anti-Communist fighter whose perspective shifts over time, leading him to join the Communist party. Amid the Xi'an Incident, Wei Da He emerges victorious by capturing Tong Guan. Despite his accomplishments, he is dismissed and sent back home due to a clash with Gao Xiao Shan from the Red Army. When war breaks out, Wei Da He returns to the battlefield and saves military strategist Jiang Huai Zhu. Unbeknownst to him, he falls in love with Jiang Huai Zhu's daughter, Jiang Ya Zhen, who is secretly involved with the Communist resistance.

Taking place in Beiping city just before the establishment of the People's Republic of China in 1949, the narrative follows the significant transformations in the lives of three siblings - Jin Hai, Tie Lin, and Xu Tian. A love story unfolds between Xu Tian and Tian Dan amidst the backdrop of historical events. Xu Tian, a police officer, embarks on a journey to unravel the mystery behind his late fiancée's murder, ultimately leading him to play a role in the liberation of Beiping. The trio of friends, Jin Hai, Tie Lin, and Xu Tian, face a series of choices that set them on different paths as they navigate through the turbulent times and ideological differences. Xu Tian and Tian Dan, despite their hardships, find solidarity and a shared purpose that unites them.
