Upon discovering that her firstborn daughter had broken lines on both palms, Jin Yu's mother was devastated. Despite wanting to abandon Jin Yu, she was advised by an opera performer to raise her daughter to the best of her ability. Jin Yu faced numerous challenges and difficulties throughout her life, including being denied education and having to work in a factory at a young age to support her family due to poverty. Despite facing hardships, Jin Yu discovered a talent for writing and pursued it to provide for her family. Her husband, however, was unsupportive and abusive, leading Jin Yu to strive for independence and success as a scriptwriter. Despite contemplating suicide at one point, Jin Yu was encouraged by a journalist named Pan Li Hua to continue living and take control of her own destiny. Eventually, Jin Yu overcame numerous challenges and ended up marrying a man who shared her passion for scriptwriting and Cantonese opera.
