Kusaka is puzzled as to why Sudo, who had been living in Tokyo for over two decades following his son's death, was murdered in Shizuoka Prefecture. He believes that revisiting the kidnapping and murder of Sudo's son will bring clarity to the current case. Kusaka seeks help from Shigeto, who had left the police force long ago, and together they reach out to Mamoru's mother, Saeko, and her sister, Rie, as they get closer to uncovering the true culprit.
